Dear Delray Beach Organic Meetup Members,

I would like to start a resource file and would like input from each of you. Please send me:

Your favorite restaurants that use organic products.

Places to buy organic products.

Publications about organics.

Products you have tried that either you loved or you did not like and why.

Etc, etc, etc.

I encourage feedback (what you like as well as do not like about it) and if you see something someone else has submitted and you have feedback, share that as well. I will compile this info and place them in the "files" section as well. Bethany and I are collaborating on putting together a newsletter as well, so a link to that newsletter subscription will be added in the near future.

We have a lot of interest in this group, so I applaud my founding members on getting us off on the right foot! Together, we can make a change!!

You can buy organic produce at the Woolbright Market, which is a little roadside fruit and vegetable place. They have a good selection of organics:
Take 95 to Woolbright exit in Boynton Beach, go east about a mile. You will see the market on the left side of the road. There is parking.

You can also buy organic dry goods at a place called Health Food Mini Market in West Palm Beach Take 95 to Okeechobee, go west to Florida Mango, go south, look for it on the left in a warehouse section. It has a small sign so you have to look.

deliciousorganics.com is great for home deliveries...they are one of our members...check it out!

There is also the Organic Buying Club of South Florida http://www.organicbuy...

There is a produce market on Dixie Hwy in Lake Worth that has conventional and organic. Prices are about the same as you would get otherwise. It is located accross the street from the Winn Dixie Shopping Center area, and next to a thrift store. North of 19th. They have a relatively small selection of organics at this point, and some are not clearly marked with where they came from...may be local grown. The place has a pesticide smell in the building because of selling conventionals.

Dr. Bonner's soaps are great. One vegetarian magazine polled their people to see what they considered the most important products they used, and most said Dr. Bonner's. I would agree. They are great!

Baking Soda, Vinegar and Borax are also indispensable for cleaning.

I also like buying coconut oil since it is something that grows locally. It makes a great base for homemade cosmetics.

Shea Butter is also great for homemade cosmetics.

I really love flower essences for maintaining health. They are taken from the creative part of the plant, and are in essence form, so are very powerful. Flower Essence Services, Nevada City, CA have great ones (same essences as Dr. Bach series in Whole Foods, which are good as well.) If you get the whole series, you have them when you want them. Otherwise, just tune into the ones you feel you need. You cannot overdose, if you don't need it, it won't hurt anything. They are really great for pets and will cure problems with pets that professionals will tell you "to just put that pet down". They are wonderful for kids too.

DO YOU WANT TO SAVE GAS, AND STILL HAVE A MEETUP? MEETINGS ON SKYPE.

Many of us are trying to save as much gas as possible, which is why most of our meetings take place at a location where you can do some shopping or something else besides the meeting. Well, how would you like to have meetings from your own home on the Skype phone system. Skype is a very inexpensive system to get started in, and it will save you tons on gas and phone calls, because all the skype calls to others on skype are FREE. That sounds too good to pass up. Let's try it! Go to http://www.skype.com... to check out how to get started. It's free for the basic service, and let me know when you have it set up and we can do some meetings that way.

Here is a handy sustainable item for your kitchen. It is essentially a hand crank food processor, which works great for grinding raw vegetables, nuts, fruits, onions and garlic, and much more. Made for grinding meat, it is built to last. Just watch that you don't get your grinding ingredients too dry, as it can crack the plate if the ingredients are too dry and you are cranking too fast and hard. Otherwise, this item should be passed down as a kitchen heirloom. The parts are easy to take apart and clean. http://www.everyfoods...
